A Kent bus and coach operator running on a stack of paper timetables and a static early-2010s website — rebuilt as a full digital ticketing and travel-information platform, with a companion mobile app to match.
Eastonways runs scheduled coastal routes, school services and police-escorted night buses across Thanet — Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Birchington and the surrounding villages. Before the rebuild, passengers had no way to plan a journey, buy a ticket or check for delays online — everything ran on printed timetables and phone calls to the depot.
We built an interactive journey planner into the homepage, moved every route and timetable onto a searchable services directory, and put the full range of passes — Day Rider, Weekly, Monthly Commuter, Student and Concessionary — on sale through Kentmedia's own Ecom engine, the same product, cart and Stripe checkout system that powers our in-house shop.
Alongside the website, we shipped a Road Watch live-alerts dashboard so passengers can check roadworks, delays and detours before they travel, and a companion iOS & Android app that syncs digital passes to a QR-code wallet and tracks buses in real time.
A journey planner front and centre on the homepage, backed by a full timetable directory for every scheduled, school and night route Eastonways runs.
A full-width hero with a "from stop / to stop" journey planner and a live limited-offer pass card, sitting above Island Hoppa, police-escorted night bus and coach hire services.
Every scheduled, school and police-escorted route in one searchable directory — filter by category and jump straight to a timetable PDF, route map or ticket purchase.
Three more pieces of the platform — digital passes, live service alerts and the companion mobile app.
Day, Weekly, Monthly, Student and Concessionary passes sold through our Ecom engine and Stripe checkout — every ticket lands instantly in the passenger's digital wallet, ready to sync to the app.
A live alerts dashboard tracking roadworks, closures and detours by severity and affected route, with a status overview and detour map so passengers can plan around delays before they travel.
The iOS & Android companion app — route search and live timetables, a secure digital wallet with scannable QR tickets, and real-time GPS bus tracking with accurate ETAs.
No campaign has run for Eastonways yet — here's the SEO and social approach we'd apply for a local transport operator whose passengers check in daily for service updates and plan journeys on the move.
Dedicated, indexable landing pages for every route number and stop pairing — "Route 38 Birchington to Ramsgate bus times" — matching exactly how passengers actually search.
BusTrip and LocalBusiness structured data on every route and pass page, plus GTFS feed publication so routes and live positions surface directly in Google Maps.
A fully optimised Google Business Profile for depot and key interchange locations, with regular posts covering service changes — a strong local-pack signal for "buses near me" searches.
Journey planner and Road Watch pages built to stay fast under Google's current ranking signals despite live, frequently-updating data — critical for a site passengers check on the move.
Published punctuality statistics, a public Road Watch history and clear operator accreditation — the trust signals Google weighs most heavily for essential local services.
Content and pass promotion timed to real demand shifts — school-term service pages each September, and summer coastal-route pushes ahead of the Thanet tourist season.
Real-time posts mirroring Road Watch — delays, diversions and resolutions — turning social into the fastest place for regular passengers to get an update.
Active presence in Thanet community and commuter groups — the channel where local service complaints and questions already happen, met with fast, transparent responses.
Reels and TikToks showing exactly how to buy a pass, use the journey planner or scan a QR ticket — removing friction for less tech-confident passengers.
Instagram content aimed at Thanet's summer visitors — coastal routes to Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate positioned as the easy, car-free way to explore.
Targeted paid and organic content each August/September promoting the KCC Student Freedom Pass to parents ahead of the new school term.
Meta and Google retargeting toward website visitors who checked a timetable but haven't downloaded the app — the highest-value conversion for a repeat-journey audience.
A single-route operator doesn't need the same platform as a multi-route company running digital ticketing and a companion app — we scope the build to match. Every site launches with solid foundations for future growth.
