It’s not called one of the most coveted geek gadget there is to own for nothing. The Apple iPad is a totally unique class of gadget that cannot be compared to former gadgets that has been released before it and has set the stage for many companies to expand their tablet PC design only to have the iPad to be their pattern; getting in one way or the other their design from the Apple innovative tablet.

We have seen this happen to many innovative designs that have created trends in their respective industries; the ground-breaking design was conceptualized and was put to the assembly line, and every other competing brand in one way or another, have at least copied its design from it. It may not be blunt and apparent to avoid getting sued for violating the patent law, yet it would be quite obvious with just the simplest observations even if it’s coming from an untrained eye.

At the official introduction of the iPad 2, Steve Jobs has shown a video of how the current iPad can be effectively used in education of pre-schools and how autistic children have shown to responds very positively to the iPad. And now, because the new iPad had a thinner design and now with two built-in camera, it can be used in Facetime communication and children who have very low attention span has shown to respond more and have shown more participation in their classroom activities. Another use that is very inspiring is that if its tremendous help to medical practitioners who can use it instantly to view patient records and help them to understand their ailment and work on a positive treatment approach. The iPad was also shown to be very helpful not just in the business world, but many other areas that can just touch people’s lives.

In the UK, even before the official release of the iPad 2, Brits who are into gadgets have been trying to pre-order as early as January and searches and inquiries on the Internet about iPad 2 insurance have shown a massive growth these past two months. As of today, insurance for the current iPad have been able to save many professionals from financial burden if their iPad was stolen or accidentally damaged since they use it actively in their profession and they are hoping the new iPad 2 insurance policy will do the same. As Jobs’ prediction echos in my ears, “2010 was the year of the iPad, 2011 will be the year of the iPad 2”, I just hope it’ll be a year of touching more people’s lives all over again.
